We've had a few questions about qualifying for State, so I thought I'd send this out to explain how KHSAA decides. The following applies to just swimming. Diving has different requirements.

Regional Scoring

Championship and Consolation Finals both score points. Sixteen (16) places shall score. Individual scores are: 20-17-16-15-14-13-12-11-9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1. Relays are double the individual scores. The top two finishers in the region automatically advance the state meet, the other 10 finishers are eligible for one of the 22 at large berths for the state meet.
